Woollen Coffins

Serendipity’s Natural Legacy woollen coffins are sourced from Hainsworth Mill in Yorkshire, England. There, the Mill’s wool specialists, who have an inherent understanding of how the material works, have used their skills and experience, as well as cutting-edge innovation, to create a unique range of woollen coffins – coffins characterised by softness and comfort.

Combining recycled cardboard and strong, natural jute straps, which support the entire base, these beautiful coffins not only have excellent (and accredited) weight-bearing strength but are also lightweight overall. They are suitable for both cremation and burials.

Natural Legacy by Hainsworth woollen coffins are:

  • Made from pure new wool, recycled cardboard and organic cotton and are 100% biodegradable
  • Light in weight and easy to carry
  • Aesthetically pleasing and gentle and comforting in appearance, in contrast to more traditional coffins
  • Soft to the touch, despite being very strong – they have been independently tested and proven to hold up to 270 kg (certification available)
  • Truly unique and a new and wonderful alternative to traditional caskets

Natural Legacy’s range of children’s coffins is particularly welcome, in that traditional wooden coffins can often seem unattractive and cold to grieving families who have experienced the tragedy of losing a child. With their very soft feel and the inclusion of a soft wool blanket in each, the children’s coffins offer a far more comforting and appealing option for such families.
